The Advertiser Cessnock
Newspaper Name : | The Advertiser Cessnock |
About Us: | The Advertiser is a free weekly newspaper that is published every Wednesday and delivered to just about every corner of the Cessnock local government area. It was founded in 1960 and is highly regarded as the vehicle through which residents are informed on all matters, ranging from general news, council and politics, to community news, lifestyle content, entertainment and sport. Located in the heart of the NSW Hunter Valley, Cessnock is 160 kilometres from the Sydney central business district and is less than one hour drive from Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast. Cessnock grew as a city founded on coal mining and has been fortunate to benefit from the Hunter Valley’s flourishing wine and tourism industry. While many people still commute to the coal mines in the nearby Upper Hunter, the tourism industry has provided huge employment benefits to Cessnock. Cessnock has a substantial retail centre, supplemented by smaller centres in adjoining towns, including Kurri Kurri, Weston, Branxton and Greta. The historic village of Wollombi and the Hunter’s newest town in 50 years, Huntlee, are also part of the Cessnock district. Cessnock is one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, with 14.5 per cent population growth in the five years to 2021. The Advertiser aims to help build the community, by keeping them strong, informed and connected. |
