Newspaper Name : | The Courier-Mail |
About Us: | Welcome to Brisbane and Queensland’s No.1 source of news, sport and analysis of the big issues affecting our state. An influential voice in Queensland politics and the state’s first newspaper, The Courier-Mail was founded in 1846 as the Moreton Bay Courier, as it was known then. In 1861 it became a daily newspaper and in 1864 was renamed the Brisbane Courier. One of the paper’s many competitors over the years, The Daily Mail was launched in Brisbane in 1903. It did not remain a competitor for long; in 1933 The Courier-Mail was formed through the merger of The Courier and The Daily Mail, and Queensland Newspapers Pty Ltd was born. In 1987, News Corp acquired Queensland Newspapers. The Courier-Mail website was launched in 1998 and in 2006 the paper moved from a broadsheet to compact format. The paper’s online and print operations merged in 2008. |

Sunshine Coast Daily
Newspaper Name : | Sunshine Coast Daily |
About Us: | The readership of the print Sunshine Coast Daily increased in the early 2000s to 2014. From 2014 to the introduction of the online-only paper, the news publication had seen a steady decline in readership.
The weekly Monday-Friday print Sunshine Coast Daily decreased from 45,000 to 42,000 from March 2014 to March 2015 and the readership of the weekend (Saturday) print Sunshine Coast Daily decreased from 46,000 to 37,000 from March 2014 to March 2015 The reasons for this decline in circulation is because of competition from other media and because newspapers represent a ???mature??? industry approaching its end.Furthermore, population declines, closure of major industries in regional areas and reductions in editorial space may have also contributed to the decline in readership. In 2008, the circulation of the Sunshine Coast Daily was 21,604 Monday to Friday and 34,716 on Saturday.[2][failed verification] In 2015, those figures are down to 12,200 Monday to Friday and just under 18,000 on Saturday.[3] There were also a number of community publications attached to the newspaper, the Caloundra Weekly, Maroochy Weekly, Nambour Weekly, and Buderim Chronicle. The Sunshine Coast Daily was also responsible for producing the Caboolture News, Noosa News, and Bribie Weekly. These had all been closed by News Limited by mid-2020. |
