| About Us: | Myrtleford is located on the Ovens Highway, 47 km from Wangaratta, and is considered to be the gateway to the Victorian Alps. Both winter and summer, this attracts a large volume of tourist traffic to the area. Myrtleford is the centre of a diverse agricultural and timber producing region. It is the capital of Southern Australia’s tobacco growing industry and has the biggest tobacco selling complex in the country. Other crops include hops and a rapidly developing wine industry. a population of about 3500, Myrtleford has a good mix of retail businesses, including supermarkets, which serve a wide region. The major employer is Carter Holt Harvey’s wood products mill, with more than 350 workers. |
